April Birchbox

Sharing my April Birchbox on the blog today! For those of you who are new, Birchbox is monthly subscription services that sends you 5-6 products ranging from beauty, hair, skincare, and lifestyle. Each month's box has a theme, this month's theme was Inside Out. Products that were chosen for this month's box included hand picked products with superstar ingredients that help you look and feel your best - inside and out!

For my sample choice item I picked the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream. I was excited to try this cream since it is targeted specifically for redness, blemishes, and inflammation. From time to time I get random spots on my face, especially with the weather changes, and I was interested in trying this cream out. I've used it for a couple days on some red spots I developed on my forehead and it definitely has reduced the redness. The Beauty Crop GRLPWR Liquid Lipstick was a fun addition to my makeup bag. I got the Imma Bawse shade which is a nice deep red. I wore it a few times to work and received many compliments on it. I haven't had a chance to try the HUM Nutrition Powder, but I am super excited to give it a chance. I've never tried these superfood powders therefore I'm intrigued to give it a go! The Sumbody Body Soap smells absolutely amazing!! As soon as I opened my box I could smell the lavender. I've been using it nonstop!

As always all the items can be found online at Birchbox. If you are interested in trying out Birchbox you can signup here.

Have  a lovely day!

Pleats & Polka Dots

Shirt | Jacket | Skirt | Heels (old, similar) | Belt | Scarf | Clutch | Sunnies

Happy Wednesday! This pleated pink skirt is probably my all time favorite! It is ultra feminine and such a classic. I can see myself wearing this skirt for many years to come. A few weeks ago I made it down to DC to the National Gallery of Art to meet up with the insanely talented Amir (check out his Instagram). The thing I love about social media is connecting with other creatives and bonding over our similar interests. I had such a blast exploring NGA with Amir and snapping photos around DC! NGA is quickly becoming my new favorite museum after Hirshhorn. I used to museum hop in DC all the time during my grad school days, I really need to make an effort to get down their more often and explore all DC has to offer, especially now that the weather is so nice! I would love any DC recommendations for places to see and eat at! I'm thinking a day trip is in order this weekend or next! Leave a comment below :)

Spring is all about pretty blossoms! I love pairing crisp white denim with pastel colors to match the floral scenery. I'm having a bit of a scallop moment currently (seen here and here) and this baby blue scallop blazer is my current obsession. I paired the scallop blazer with pleated top for a super feminine look. I'm currently loving pastels and all the spring blossoms!

I've also been on the hunt for a new pair of white jeans and I can't rave enough about this pair of Girlfriend Jeans I picked up from Banana Republic. It's the perfect pair to dress up with heels, wedges, and pairs perfectly with slides, sandals, and sneakers! It is pretty true to size, I was going for a loser fir therefore I ordered a 2 short/petite.

I've been wearing my JORD wood watch non stop this spring, it goes with all my looks! Don't forget to enter the JORD watches giveaway hereThe giveaway will close 04/23/17 at 11:59 pm CST. One lucky reader will win a $100 e-gift code and all entrants will receive a $25 e-gift code. Both codes will expire on 07/23/17.

I've linked a bunch of pretty scallop pieces below that are perfect for spring!

Epcot Character Experience

There is so much to do at Epcot! See my detailed post on the entire park here. The last time I was at Epcot was when I was twelve years old! My parents managed to photograph me with some of the characters at the park but not all of them because we spent majority of the time going on the rides. This time around I wanted to see as many of the characters as I could and explore the World Showcase.

I did my research beforehand and located all the characters and their appearance times on the Epcot website. Majority of the characters are located around the World Showcase in the different countries. The Disney Characters - Mickey, Minnie, Goofy - are located in Future World. There is the option of fast pass for the Disney Characters, I didn't do that. We arrived at the park at 9AM and headed straight to the line for Micky, Minnie, and Goofy. The general line was only a half hour wait and before 10AM I had my photos taken with the characters. For the remainder of the day we timed our visits around the world to see all the characters. Sadly I didn't get a chance to see Snow White and Mulan but I did meet Belle and snapped a selfie with her! I asked all the characters for a selfie and they were kind enough to indulge me.

I've summarized the list of character appearances and where to find them in the park below:

Meet Alice in Wonderland in United Kingdom | Performance Time 11:30AM, 12:30PM. 1:30PM, 2:30PM, 4:20PM, 5:20PM

Meet Mary Poppins in United Kingdom | Performance Time 11AM, 12PM, 1PM, 2PM

Meet Belle in France | Performance Time 11AM, 12PM. 1PM, 2:50PM, 3:50PM, 4:50PM

Meet Princess Jasmine in Morocco | Performance Time 11:45AM, 12:45PM. 1:45PM, 2:45PM, 4:45PM, 5:45PM

Meet Snow White in Germany | Performance Time 11AM, 12PM. 1PM, 2PM, 3:50PM, 4:50PM

Meet Mulan in China | Performance Time 11AM, 12PM. 1PM, 2PM, 3:50PM, 4:50PM

Meet Elsa and Anna in Norway | Performance Time 9AM to 9PM
Meet Donald Duck in Mexico | Performance Time 12PM to 3PM, 4:10PM to 7PM

Meet Disney Pals at the Epcot Character Spot | Performance Time 9AM to 9PM

The one thing I noticed and truly enjoyed, even as an grown adult meeting all the characters, the time they took to chat with all the guests. The characters didn't break from their role once! I asked Belle for a book recommendation, Mary Poppins invited me to tea, Jasmine asked if I needed a ride on her magic carpet ride to get back home and Alice noticed my heart pattern shoes. It doesn't matter what age you are, meeting a Disney characters is a memorable experience!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter | Orlando

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, oh how I love this place.

This was my second time at the theme park (see my first trip here). I followed the same road map as before. This time around since our flight was at 5pm we only visited Diagon Alley and Hosmeade without visiting the rest of the parks. The purpose of my day was to show my mom all things Harry Potter since she has never been to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is located in Universal Orlando Resort, Diagon Alley is located in Universal Studios and Hogsmeade is in Islands of Adventure. The Hogwarts Express connects the two parks. Therefore a park to park pass is required to visit both parks on the same day.

Be sure to get to the park early because you have to get through security first and then it is about a 10 minute walk to the actual park entrance. We arrived at Universal Studios around around 9am and picked up our tickets at will call. Once entering the park we cut through Rodeo Drive and made our way to Diagon Alley. Our day went in the following order:

1. Grimmauld Place: Knock on flat number 12 and catch a glimpse of Kreacher the house elf from the window.
2. Knight Bus: Say hello to the conductor and Dre Head. Don't be afraid to strike up a conversation and snap some photos.
3. Ministry of Magic: Step into the booth and dial MAGIC (62442) for a message from the Ministry of Magic.
4. Diagon Alley: Head straight to Gringotts Bank. Check your bag in the locker and stand in line for Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. Afterward snap a picture on Hagrid's motorcycle. If you are lucky the dragon will breathe fire and snap a photo or boomerang video! Before leaving Diagon Alley exchange your muggle money at Gringotts Money Exchange for a Wizarding bank note that can be used to purchase things around the park or kept as a souvenir. You can purchase an interactive wand at the park and use it throughout Diagon Alley to cast spells. To be honest I purchased a regular wand last year and brought it along this time around for photos around the park, the interactive one is really cool if you buy it at the beginning of the day and use it through out the day at the park.
5. King Cross Station: Ride the Hogwarts Express to Hogsmeade. On your journey be sure to pay attention to all the details throughout the station. Snap a photo at the perfume ad similar to the movie when Harry and Dumbeldore stand in Half-Blood Prince. Make sure to get a video of yourself jumping through to Platform 9 3/4!
6. Hogsmeade: At this point it's probably before noon and it's in your best interest to head straight to Three Broomsticks and order lunch before the lunch crowd hits. I would recommend the fish and chips and the frozen butterbeer! It really hits the spot! Afterward head straight to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey inside Hogwarts. The ride gives you the chance to explore inside the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In Homemade the other rides to check out are Dragon Challenge and Flight of the Hippogriff. This time around we skipped Flight of the Hippogriff because it is a very short ride and very underwhelming in my opinion. Once you have the rides out of the way take your time to explore Hogsmeade. Be sure to explore Olivanders and Owl Post, Dervish and Bangers, Filch's Emporium, and grab some delicious treats at Honeydukes. My favorite souvenirs to pick up from Honeydukes are the chocolate wands, jelly beans, and chocolate frogs. Note that any shopping you do at the park you can ask one of the helpful wizards to send your bags to the front entrance of Universal to pick up at the end of the day. Before leaving Hogsmeade be sure to snap photos with the conductor of Hogwarts Express!
7. Return to Diagon Alley: Once you have throughly explored Hogsmeade it's time to take the Hogwarts Express back to Diagon Alley. If you happen to be hungry grab a bite at Leaky Cauldron or some ice-cream at Florean Fortescue's Ice-Cream Parlour. Now enjoy your time exploring Diagon Alley! Don't forget to head down Knockturn Alley to explore all the Death Eaters Shop!
8. Butterbeer: You must try as much butterbeer as you can! There are a few different versions of the drink. There is regular butterbeer, frozen butterbeer, and butterbeer ice-cream, They are all delicious! my favorite is most definitely the frozen butterbeer. It basically tastes like a butterscotch/vanilla slushy but only better!

This park itinerary works for adults because you are jumping around in order to avoid the crowds and can truly enjoy the park! It may be harder to navigate such an itinerary with small children because they will be distracted by all the amazing details of the park. I really had to stop myself from getting sidetracked, but honestly sticking to the itinerary allowed me to see EVERY aspect of Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade and truly enjoy it!

My friend Katie convinced me to vlog my day at Harry Potter. I'm always hesitant about vlogs because I'm afraid no one cares but I took her advice and video documented my day. I'm convinced now that videos are so much more fun than pictures!! It gives life to the experience! See my short vlog of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter below and comment what you think :)

What To Wear to Orlando Theme Parks

What should you wear to a theme park? I've been to enough theme parks to be able to pack appropriately while being fashionable at a theme park all day. Here my five tips on what to wear and how to tackle to art of dressing appropriately yet fashionable at theme parks.

1. SHOES || Comfortable shoes is the most important thing in my opinion. The first thing I did for my trip to Orlando was pick out which shoes I wanted to pack. My entire outfit is based on my footwear because there is a lot of walking and standing involved at theme parks. For Epcot I was dead set on wearing my TOMS x James Goldcrown heart flats. The shoes are totally aligned with my Disney theme outfit and are super comfortable to walk in. According to my fitbit we hit 15K steps at Epcot. For the second day at Universal Studios I stuck to my trusty white converse sneakers. Many people opt for flip flops or sandals but I personally find them uncomfortable after a few hours and always manage to trip on something. I think flats or sneakers is the best and most smart footwear option to go with.

2. BACKPACK || A backpack is the way to go at theme parks. I used to take a crossbody bag but then my shoulder would hurt throughout the day. I've found backpacks to by comfortable and practical because you can fit so many things in it! I always back my DSLR on trips therefore I like that it fits in a backpack and doesn't make the bag too heave. There are many cute options for handbags this season, I've linked a bunch below.

3. SUNGLASSES || Sunnies are a must when you are outdoors for 8+ hours at a theme park. However I've heard so many stories of people losing their beloved pair of sunglasses while at a theme park. Therefore I suggest picking up an inexpensive pair that you are not attached too and don't mind scratching or losing. Also if you are traveling for a few days pack a backup pair just in case something happens to your sunglasses on day one. I've linked a few inexpensive sunglasses options

4. DRESS UP || Who can't resist dressing up at a theme park in Orlando?! I'm not saying go full out Halloween outfit but don't be afraid to pick up a few accessories to go with the theme of the day. For Epcot I picked up this adorable pair of Minnie Mouse ears that I pulled out for my selfie with Minnie and several photo ops around the park. I got so many compliments on it and lots of smiles. At the Wizarding World of Harry Potter I ordered a Gryffindor tie from Amazon. I saw a lot of people wearing this tee at the park and many fans wore straight robes to the park. I do suggest getting these accessories ahead of time from Amazon because they are cheaper. You can also find them in the parks or around Orlando shops however be read to pay double to triple the normal price.

5. ESSENTIALS || Make sure to make a few essentials in your backup. I personally always have my S'well Water Bottle, Portable Charger, Hand Sanitizer, Lotion, Lip Balm, and a few Band-Aids in my bag. The portable charger is a major key because it allows you to charge your phone and be on the go, no need to glue yourself to a wall outlet and waste time waiting on your phone to charge.

I hope these tips help you pack for your next theme park trip! If you need any advice or suggestions feel free to reach out!

Have a lovely day!
